Girls dominate at Eagle Grove, 71-13
Sixth ranked (3A) Clear Lake stomped on Eagle Grove 71-13 Friday night to enter the holiday break a perfect 6-0 in the North Central Conference and 6-1 overall.
The scoring was fast and furious for the Lions. They rushed out to a 20-2 first quarter lead and were up 51-6 at halftime.
It was more in the same in the second half, with the Eagles scoring just five points in the third and two in the fourth quarter.
All 12 players on the Lions’ roster participated in the win, with nine of them scoring.
Leading the way was Trudy Peterson with 16 points on 6/7 shooting from two-point range and 4/5 shooting from beyond the arc. Logan Anderson and Kay Faber scored 11 points apiece and each had three steals. Madison Faber also finished in double figures with 10 points. Four steals were also included in her line.
Lindsey Loudenburg was four-for-four from the field to finish with eight points and a team-high five steals. Bailey Kibsgaard also had eight points, four rebounds and a blocked shot. Kylie Bottjen added three points and Katie Hewett and Sidney Borrill each put in two points. Borrill was also among the team leaders with four rebounds and a blocked shot.
“We ended on a positive note before the Christmas Break at Eagle Grove,” said Coach Bart Smith. “We came out a little slow but were able to pick it up by stepping it up on defense. By the second quarter we had click on offense and defense. We ran our zone sets effectively and executed them very well with Trudy benefitting on most of sets by scoring all her 16 points in the second quarter.
