Girls cruise to fifth straight win
Five players scored in double figures, helping the Clear Lake girls to a 67-38 win over Bishop Garrigan Tuesday, Dec. 17. The win was the fifth straight for the Lions, who are ranked seventh in Class 3A.
A slow start had the Lions behind, 11-10, after one quarter, but they got rolling in the second frame and never looked back. The victory kept Clear Lake in a tie for the North Central Conference lead, with both teams at 5-0 in the league.
All five of the Lions’ starters scored in double figures, led by Trudy Peterson’s 14. Logan Anderson was next with 13, and Lindsey Loudenburg, Madison Faber and Bailey Kibsgaard each scored 10.
Kibsgaard had a team high four steals and was the leading rebounder with eight boards. Loudenburg pulled down five rebounds.
The Lions were turnover prone in the opening minutes, but eventually turned the tables on the Golden Bears and made 20 steals.
A 10-0 run by the Lions put them ahead at halftime, 31-22.
It was more of the same in the third, as Clear Lake rattled off 12 straight points to extend their lead. The Lions outscored Garrigan 26-8 in the third and 11-8 in the fourth.
Off the bench, Katie Hewett and Sidney Borrill each scored four points. Kay Faber added two.
Due to early holiday deadlines, the results of the Clear Lake vs. Eagle Grove game played on Friday, will be printed in next week’s edition of the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter.
