Giving Tree and Engage programs reach local families

You’ve done it again!  The Clear Lake and Ventura community stepped up to the challenge of providing a growing number of families in need of a little help this holiday season.  

As has happened every year since it began in 1989, all ornaments on the Mirror-Reporter’s Giving Tree were checked out.   In fact, even after the final ornament was pulled from the tree on Thursday, several people stopped or called the Reporter office to offer their help.  Their generosity was directed to Sally Duesenberg, student/family services coordinator at Clear Lake Schools, who had the names of even more families requesting help after the Giving Tree deadline.

This year 69 families, represented by a total of 215 ornaments on the Giving Tree, were served.
