Machine shed fire causes 90K loss
A late night fire in a machine shed caused more than $90,000 damage at a rural Clear Lake farm.
At 10:57 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, Clear Lake firefighters were called to 19674 Hickory Avenue. Upon arrival by two pumpers, a tanker, 18
firefighters, and the Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Department, the building was fully involved with a large amount of fire showing.
According to Public Information Officer Billy Krefft, a quick knock down by the CLFD protected the adjacent exposures of numerous grain bins.
Two vehicles, mopeds, bicycles, tools and other equipment inside the building were a total loss. Early damage estimates could reach over $90,000.
The residents of the property are Kim Wendel and Ron Decker.
There were no injuries. Krefft said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
