Willi O. Beckmann

Willi O. Beckmann, 92, 909 Main Ave., Clear Lake, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City.  A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ventura, with Rev. Daird Korth officiating.  According to his wishes 

his body has been cremated.  A private graveside service was held in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Willi was born June 15, 1921 in Konstantinopel, Germany, the son of Otto F. and Emma Helene Beckmann.  He attended school in Marienfliess, Germany, and then attended a Masonry Trade school.  He married Hildegard Charlotte Grunert on March 25, 1949 in Munich, Germany.  Willi, Hilda and their daughter, Traudi, moved to Ventura in1952 and to Clear Lake in 1953.

He worked as a masonry in the Clear Lake area and was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers.

He enjoyed wood working, wine making, gardening and his white German shepherds.  He self-taught himself to play the harmonica, organ and the accordion.  

Willi was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ventura. 

Willi is survived by his daughter, Traudi (Manfred) Schwab, Munich, Germany; grandson, Markus (Dani) Schwab, Munich, Germany; and his two great-grandchildren, Maximilian and Katharina Schwab.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his sister, Margarete, and her husband, George Meier.   

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
