CL volleyball team wraps up regular season

Clear Lake wrapped up its regular and North Central Conference volleyball season with a 3-1 loss at Webster City Tuesday, Oct. 22.

The Lynx opened the match with 25-8, 25-15 wins before the Lions could get on the board with a 25-22 victory.  Webster City got the decisive third win, 25-11.

The victory gave Webster City the NCC crown.

“We gave a great effort in the third set with a win, but we weren’t able to sustain our momentum,” said Coach Scott Swenson.  “Webster City is a very good volleyball team with a balanced attack.  I was very happy to see Carney Frahm step up to the challenge of being another setter in our offense, with Jeni Hamlin going on the disabled list with a concussion.  She received the injury at the Algona tournament. Once again our seniors took charge with their leadership.”

Kaye Faber had a strong outing, with 15 assists, eight digs and 9/9 serving with one ace.  Bailey Kibsgaard finished with 11 kills, eight digs and 10/10 serving with an ace. Katie Hewitt had seven kills, five digs and two solo blocks. Sidney Borrill had five kills and one solo block. Frahm had 10 assists in her starting debut in NCC play as a setter. Sam Wilkinson had three aces, going 11/11 at the service line.   Madi Faber was credited with 15 digs.
