Gary Hugi

I am a retired construction worker who is a graduate of Mankato Technical, with a degree in
Survey and Construction Practices. My family includes special friend Wuaneta, my daughter Sarah, son Jason, and grandchildren Emily, Lauren and Rhiannon. I have served on various boards and committees and am currently a member of the City’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
Are there specific issues which motivated you to seek office? If so, which ones? Why?
I have been fortunate and privileged to work hand-in-hand with various government agencies (state, county, municipalities). Each agency offered different formats that needed to be recognized and respected. The time spent with each agency affords me the opportunity to share this valuable experience with our community at this time.
Please identify the biggest challenge you see facing the City of Clear Lake in the short term (1-2 years) and long term (10-20 years):
There are no short term challenges to our city. Every challenge or decision made by our city leaders affects the future of every resident and future resident. My name is Peter Lagios. I am 42-years young. I am single. I am self educated on a variety of subjects. I have performed many work activities in my life, but most recently have self-taught myself the art and craft of guitar building. I consider my occupation to be a Luthier. I recently acquired two acres of land and have begun steps for organic farming. I enjoy audio/video engineering as a hobby and playing chess.
Are there specific issues which motivated you to seek office? If so, which ones? Why?
Aside that I’m from Greek ancestry and that politics and democracy are in my DNA...
A. Our streets during the summer months are filled with loud, raucous noise from vehicles, most notably motorcycles, who remove their mufflers and run straight-pipes. Many cars and trucks “beef” up their exhaust systems with glass-packs, and other illegal aftermarket products. Living near a busy intersection like I do, beautiful summer days get turned into days of irritation and annoyance. Rude and disrespectful operators “rev” up their motorcycles and engines. Iowa Code 321.436 Mufflers, Prevention of Noise is supposed to provide us protection, but the law is currently not enforced by the Clear Lake Police Department. Speeding is also allowed to occur.
