CL X-C team looking to be competitive in NCC meet

The Clear Lake cross country teams had the chance to preview the course for the North Central Conference meet, racing at the Eagle Grove Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 8.  Based on their performances, the Lions should be very competitive at the NCC meet next week.

Clear Lake’s varsity boys team finished four in the nine-team field; the girls were ninth.

“I feel that this was the best team performance of the year and hope that it bodes well for our conference meet that will be held on the same course,” said Coach Nick DiMarco.  “I was extremely proud of the effort the kids put out on a very windy night.”

Antonio DiMarco was the top place winner for the Lion boys, coming in seventh in 16:57.38.  Jake Iverson and Ryan Faught were 13th and 19th respectively in season-best times of 17:26.75 and 17:40.71.  Tanner Storbeck was next, finishing 30th in 18:40.50, followed by Spencer Orr, 34th in 18:55.48, Joe Schiller, 38th in 19:10.61, and Jacob Welper, 39th in 19:10.92.  Orr, Schiller and Welper also had their best times of the season.  The times for Faught, Orr and Schiller were also career bests.
