CL cross country team runs at Algona

The placements didn’t tell the whole story for the Clear Lake cross country teams competing at Algona Monday, Sept. 30.

Coach Nick DiMarco said he felt his team ran well in the field of 17 teams.  The Lion boys were fifth, just missing out on a fourth place trophy, while the girls were 15th overall.

Jake Iverson, Tanner Storbeck and Jacob Welper all posted season-best times in helping their team to fifth.  Iverson was 17th in 17:44.  Storbeck was 41st in 18:36 and Welper finished 73rd in 19:54.

Leading the boys team was Antonio DiMarco, crossing the finish line in sixth place in a time of 17:06.  Ryan Faught placed 32nd for the Lions in 18:14 and Spencer Orr was 59th in 19:18.  Also competing in the varsity race was Joe Schiller, 80th in 20:27.

One hundred seven runners competed in the boys event.

Logan Anderson and Trudy Peterson were 55th and 58th respectively to lead the Clear Lake girls.  Anderson covered the course in 17:36, while Peterson posted a 17:42.  Close behind was Jaci Ullrich, placing 68th in 17:57.  Courtney Anderson was 94th in 19:01, Kiersten Reineke was 105th in 20:54 and Miranda Mundt placed 19th in 24:01.

 

Junior varsity boys

In the junior varsity boys race, Justin Jurgins was the top finisher for the Lions. He was 43rd in 20:45.  Next was Jake Harle, placing 58th in 21:30, and Sam Jones, 63rd in 21:36.  Grant Dieken ran a 22:26 to place 91st. Kaleb Froiland was 93rd in 22:27, Garrett Kunzman was 98th in 22:37 and Colby Klipping was 116th in 23:37.

One hundred seventy-eight runners competed in the JV boys race.
