Loretta Cotton

Loretta (Hagen) Cotton, age 88, died peacefully on Oct. 3, 2013 in Parker, Colo. 

     A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Wayside Chapel at First United Methodist Church, 119 South Georgia Ave., Mason City, with Pastor Sean McRoberts officiating.  Burial will follow in Elmwood - St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.  Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 

7 p.m. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. N.E., Mason City, and will continue one hour prior to Loretta’s service on Friday at the Church.

     Loretta was born July 7, 1925 in Mason City, the daughter of Everett and Agnes McKee.  Loretta graduated from Mason City High School in 1943.  She worked a variety of sales and administrative jobs, and married Marvin Hagen in 1949.  They settled in Mason City, where they raised two children.  After Marvin’s death in 1980, Loretta later married Francis (Frank) Cotton and moved to Sun City West, Ariz. They were official snowbirds, enjoying Arizona’s sunshine in the winter and Colorado’s fresh air in the summer.  After Frank’s death in 2005, Loretta settled near her son in Denver, Colo.

      Loretta’s passion was her family. She loved to host holiday gatherings, and she created special memories and traditions that are being passed along through the generations. 

     Her two children survive her, Jason Hagen, of Denver, and Janan (Hagen) Kreh, of Baltimore, Md.  She also is survived by three grandchildren, Vanessa Hagen, Daniel Kreh, and Michelle (Kreh) Drumm; and nephews, Richard Squier and Gary Squier. 

     She was preceded in death by her brother, Virgil McKee; sister, Evelyn Squier; nephews, Ronald Squier and Donald Squier; and her husbands, Marvin Hagen and Francis Cotton.

     Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, was in charge of arrangements.
