David L. Snyder
David L. “Doc” Snyder, 67, 628 8th Avenue N., Clear Lake, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 at his home.
Memorial services were Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake, with Rev. Brad Thornton officiating. Inurnment was in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake. Per Dave’s wishes, he was cremated. Family suggests memorials to First Congregational Church of Clear Lake or Clear Lake Fire Museum.
Dave was born May 3, 1946 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of John Marshall and Mary Romaine (Faber) Snyder. He graduated from Holy Name High School, Marcus, Iowa, and following high school he enlisted in the United State Air Force.
Dave went to work for Lamb’s Dental Lab in Des Moines, Iowa, as a Lab Technician apprentice. He married Patricia Wallin on March 22, 1968 at Epworth United Methodist Church, Des Moines.
In 1972 they moved to Clear Lake, where he went to work for Clear Lake Dental Lab, which he later owned and operated. He owned Snyder Computer and was also employed by Jim Hunt Electric as accounts manager.
He was a member of the Clear Lake Volunteer Fire Department from 1974 -1990, and even after retiring, he continued as acting treasurer up until the time of his death.
He was a member of First Congregational Church, Clear Lake; Clear Lake Volunteer Fire Department; Iowa Dental Lab Association and former member of Clear Lake Noon Lions.
Dave is survived by his wife, Patti Snyder; daughter, Michelle (Rob) Sharpe; grandchildren, Christelle Kahre Sharp and Bryant Swenson; great-grandson Caleb Boyle; brother, Ron (Esther) Snyder; sisters, Julie (Tony) Nilles and Vicki (Mike) Bowers; mother-in-law, Betty Wallin; and sisters-in-law, Dianne Jones, Brenda (Dave) Kecy and Mary Ann (Bruce) Green.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melanie Snyder; father-in-law, Elmore “Boots” Wallin; and brother, Keith Snyder.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
