Still no candidates in Ventura
With less than a week to go, no one has filed for Mayor or Council seats
The future make-up of Ventura City government is still very much up in the air with less than a week for candidates to file nomination papers.
Incumbent Mayor George Simpson and Council representative Pat Kuhlmeier say they are uncertain about
seeking re-election. Councilman Brian Vaage, whose second term will also be expiring this year, could not be reached for comment.
No candidates have taken out nomination papers, reports Ventura City Clerk Else Taylor.
Simpson and Kuhlmeier both say they are undecided, but are leaning strongly toward not running again. Both have served one term.
