CLSD gets favorable bids for roof work
Favorable bids have allowed the Clear Lake School Board to stretch its Physical Plant and Equipment Levy dollars even further than hoped.
At its regular Board meeting last week, the group gave the go-ahead to Midwest Roofing for roof replacement and repair work at Clear Creek Elementary and the high school in the amount of $87,530. The Board had
budgeted $120,000 for the work.
In other business, the Board approved Middle School Terrazzo resurfacing in the estimated amount of $22,485.00.
The Board also heard preliminary recommendations for the redesign of the entrance at the high school. The addition of a buzzer system at Clear Creek Elementary was also suggested to secure that main entryway.
Homeland Security conducted a school safety audit earlier in the year at the request of the school district.
In addition to a buzzer system at the high school, installation of a closed circuit television to monitor entrances was also suggested. The district has already installed additional doors in the hallway where the high school office is located, allowing access to classrooms to be closed.
Continuation of a sharing agreement between the Clear Lake and Mason City Community School District for sharing Superintendent Anita Micich for the 2013-2014 school year was unanimously approved by the Board.
