Tesar, Christ will seek re-election to School Board
The Iowa Association of School Boards urges Iowans who are passionate about education to consider running for election to their local school boards. Nominations for open seats on the state’s 345 local public school boards can be filed between July 8 and Aug. 1, 2013. School board elections will take place Sept. 10.
In Clear Lake, Board members Mark Tesar and Sandy Christ are wrapping up their terms. Tesar, who is the current Board president, has announced his intention to seek re-election. Christ has informed the Board she also intends to run for a third term.
Nomination papers for school board seats are available from local school board secretaries and from county auditors. School board candidates must obtain the signatures of at least one percent of the qualified electors of the district or 50 electors, whichever is less, but at least 10 signatures.
School board members are elected to serve four-year terms, with elections taking place in odd-numbered years. Those elected receive no pay.
