G-H/V girls place fourth at Regional Golf Meet

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls golf team wrapped up the season with a fourth place finish out of eight teams at the Regional Golf Meet.  Kuemper Catholic won the meet with 383 points, followed by Hampton-Dumont with 401, Algona with a 425 and G-H/V with 432.

“I told the girls as the day began that we could finish as high as third or as low as fifth, so we came in exactly where expected,” said Coach Todd Greiman.  “It would have been nice to either advance as a team or with an individual, but we just didn’t have the firepower to pull that off.”

Mariah Dillavou led the Cardinals with a 106, followed by Kyleigh Slaichert with a 108, Madee Hejna shot a 107 and Kim Dornbier and Whitney Watson both fired 111.  Dakota McNamara shot a 118.

“We will lose two seniors in Mariah and Dakota, but with five solid golfers returning, I’m hopeful that we can be even more successful next year,” said Greiman.

The team ended the season on a 22-7 record.
