CL girls track faces tough competition at NCC Meet
Clear Lake’s young girls track team found the going tough in the varsity competition at the North Central Conference Meet held Monday, May 6, at Eagle Grove. However, several Lions finished among the top performers in the junior varsity competition.
The Lions finished 10th in the field of 10 in varsity standings. Algona won the NCC title with 156.50
points, easily outdistancing runner-up Webster City with 106.5. Third place went to Humboldt with 106.
In JV standings, the Lions were third with 58 points. Algona won with 230 and Humboldt was second with 89.
In varsity events, Megan Merfeld gave the Lions a sixth palce finish in the 400 meter run, clocking a 1:05.09. Sierra Greiman was seventh in the 1500 and 3000 meter runs in 5:31.77 and 12:33.92. Marcie Dick was seventh in the 800 meter run in 2:41.05 and Brittany Bieber placed eighth in the 200 meter dash in a time of 28.57. Sidney Borrill was eighth in the high jump, clearing 4’6”.
The Lions had a pair of third place finishes in relays. The 4x400 with Merfeld, Bieber, Borrill and Trudy Peterson ran a 4:19.32. The 1600 Medley featured Hallie Hall, Bieber, Borrill and Peterson, running a 4:39.01.
The sprint medley relay with Shelby Dickes, Ali Petersburg, Marcie Dick and Hall was sixth in 2:06.42. The 4x200 with Shelby Dickes, - Read More Via e-Edition
