G-H/V girls fall to A-P in soccer showdown, 4-1

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls soccer team faced a tough foe when they met up with Aplington-Parkersburg on Thursday, April 25.  The Falcons defeated the Cardinals, 4-1.

Bri Bier scored G-H/V’s lone goal at 28:01 into the second half.  Bier had two shots on goal for the night.

“Our team continues to improve with every game that we play,” said Coach Josh Banse.  “A-P is another tough team on our schedule.”

Coach Banse praised the play and continued improvement of goalie Samantha Betz, who had 12 saves on the night.

MacKenzie Haag, Jaeslyn Prohaska, Autumn Weaver, Bethany Nannenga and Emily Spilman all had one shot on goal.

“Payton Bamrick and Autumn Weaver played very well coming off the bench for us and Maddie Tusha played a position she has never played and did extremely well,” said Banse.  “All the girls give 100 percent everyday in practice and that is what it takes to improve.”
