Lions get track season underway

 

Clear Lake high jumper Sidney Borrill picked up a win and distance runner Sierra Greiman earned a pair of top three finishes at the Cardinal Relays held last week in Garner.  The Lions finished sixth in the field of 

eight with 71 points.  Eagle Grove won the meet with 107 points.

Borrill was one of three high jumpers to clear 4’8”, but did it in fewer attempts and was awarded first place.  Teammate Brie Wagner gave the Lions additional points in the event by placing fifth, clearing 4’4”.  Borrill was also fifth in the 200 meter dash in a time of 29.28.  She was edged by teammate Brittany Bieber, who was fourth in 28.98.  Bieber also placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 13’ 6.25”.  In other field events, Katie Hewett was fifth in the discus, throwing 90’4”.

Greiman earned a second place finish in the 3000 meter run, clocking a 12:00.71.  She was third in the 1500 in 5:39.29. Aspen Curtis gave the Lions a fourth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:20.48.  Jaci Ullrich was fourth in the 400 meter dash in 1:12.66.  Kaye Faber was sixth in the event in 1:14.69.

Clear Lake’s distance medley recorded a second place finish in 4:43.156.  The 4x400 group was third, while the 4x200 relay and sprint medley teams placed fourth.
