G-H/V girls and boys both win at B-K
The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls and boys golf teams were finally able to hit the links after weather delays derailed the season a bit. The indoor practice time didn’t seem to effect either team too much, as both the boys and girls captured titles at the Belmond Meet held on Monday, April 15.
The boys recorded a team score of 191, topping North Iowa who shot 194, Belmond-Klemme 196, and Newman-Catholic 209.
Junior Jacob Heinemann led the G-H/V boys team with a score of 44, just two strokes shy of winning the meet. Also golfing for the Cardinals was Matt Schroeder 46, Mitch Lunning 49, Braeden Johnston 52, Ryan Grunwald 53, and Cory Boeckman 54.
The girls recorded a team victory as well, shooting a 213 to lead the pack. Newman Catholic recorded a 269. North Iowa and Belmond-Klemme had incomplete scores.
The Cardinals’ Mariah Dillavou was the medalist at the meet with 49. Kim Dornbier was the runner-up, carding a 52. Also golfing for G-H/V was Kyleigh Slaichert 55, Dakota McNamara 57, Tamara O’Hara 58 and Madee Hejna 58.
With favorable weather, the teams are back in action on Monday, April 22, at Osage.
