CL girls track team participates in warm-up meet at Charles City
The Clear Lake girls track team opened the season with a warm-up meet at Charles City Thursday, April 4. In addition to the Lions and host team, Wapsie Valley and Mason City participated in the meet. No team scores were kept.
The Lions had strong performances from both distance runners and sprinters in their first outing.
Trudy Peterson was the Lions only winner, breaking the tape in the 800 meter run in 2:36.46. Teammate Sierra Greiman earned a pair of runner-up finishes. She was second in the 1500 in 5:41.95 and in the 3000 meters in 12:16.70.
Sidney Borrill and Brittany Bieber placed second and third respectively in the 200 meter dash. Borrill crossed the finish line in 29.17, while Bieber was clocked in 30.10. Kaye Faber was a fourth place finisher in the 400 meter run. She ran the oval in 1:18.20. Aspen Curtis was also a fourth place finisher in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:22.34.
