Going, going, gone
Thirty-five years after it went up as the first fast-food choice in Clear Lake, the McDonald’s retaurant at Highway 18 and Interstate 35 came down Tuesday morning. A new, larger McDonald’s will be constructed on the site, with opening
expected in June. Owner David Scherer said the popular restaurant had been renovated from time to time, but was in need of a larger space and new features, including an expanded second drive-through lane. There will likely be at least one television inside, offering weather channel information for travelers. There will be more seating and a more efficient set-up for employees.-Reporter photo by Chris Barragy.
