Clear Lake lands five on All-North Central Conference lists
Clear Lake’s starting five were represented on the recently released All-North Central Conference lists.
Juniors Logan Anderson and Trudy Peterson were both First Team All-NCC selections. Senior Megan Loux was a Second Team All-NCC choice, while senior Kristen Hewett and junior Bailey Kibsgaard were named to the All-NCC Third Team.
Anderson, who played point guard for the Lions, was a unanimous First Team pick. She led the Lions in scoring with 235, an average of 10.7 points per game. In conference play, Anderson ranked eighth in league scoring, fourth in assists and 12th in steals.
“Logan is a well rounded player that has a great passion for the game. Toward the end of the season she stepped up as a leader and controlled the game at both ends of the floor. She can score, pass, and defend. We are excited for her to develop over the off season. She continues to improve every season because of her participation with the North Iowa Fire. She should be one of the top players in the area next year,” said Coach Bart Smith.
Trudy Peterson was the top three-point shooter on the Clear Lake team. She shot 43 percent from three-point range and sunk 36 treys during the season. Her 70.5 free throw shooting percentage also topped the Lions. She was second in scoring on the team with a 10 point average per game. In conference play, her three point shooting prowess topped the league (31/70 for 44.3 percent). Her free throw shooting ranked among the top 10 in the NCC and she was seventh in scoring with a 10.7 per game average in NCC games.
“Trudy came on strong by the end of the season and really started to show her versatility by scoring from all areas of the floor,” said Coach Smith. “She, too, is a North Iowa Fire player and has developed into a nice player because of that. She works hard in the off season and we are exciting to see her develop into a good player for us next year.”
Megan Loux was also a leading free throw shooter in the conference at 63.8 percent (30/47). She ranked third in assists and ninth in steals in NCC games.
“Megan was a great floor general for our team,” continued Coach Smith. “She was a great leader and captain for us. She has a great ability of seeing the floor, which allowed her to anticipate a play before it happens.”
Hewett and Kibsgaard provided the Lions with a powerful inside game. In conference games Hewett averaged 4.1 rebounds per game, while Kibsgaard had an average of 6.5. Hewett also ranked second on the team in three-point shots made (32) during the regular season. Kibsgaard was second in field goal percentage with 53.8 percent shooting.
