High speed chase ends west of Ventura
A high speed chase ended on Highway 18 west of Ventura about 4:45 p.m. Monday.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a vehicle driven by Randal Roberts, 30, of Wisconsin, was stopped by authorities after it was suspected the vehicle had been stolen. A trooper ran the license plates of the vehicle and discovered that it had been reported as stolen in Wisconsin. After initially stopping, Roberts drove away
and led Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s deputies and the State Patrol on a chase along Highway 18. Roberts’ speed exceeded 90 mph.
A Hancock County Sherif’s deputy successfully deployed stop sticks, causing Roberts to lose control of the vehicle just east of Garner. The vehicle went into the ditch.
There were no injuries and no one else in the car was charged.
The Clear Lake Police Department also helped out with the chase.
