George Eichmeier

 

George Eichmeier, 92, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at the Hummingbird House, Sierra Vista, Ariz.   

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at the Ward-VanSlyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Rev. Daird Korth officiating.   Visitation will be on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and then one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the George Eichmeier memorial fund.  

He was born in Rockford, Iowa, on June 8, 1920 to John and Mary (Pecht) Eichmeier.

  He attended grade school in Rockford, until age 8, and then Lake Township School when the family moved to rural Mason City, Iowa, in 1928.  George married Arlene O. Anderson on June 24, 1947 in Mason City, and farmed in rural Nora Springs, Iowa, until 1956 when they moved to rural Mason City.    George farmed for most of his life and held many other jobs over the years.   After his wife passed away he sold the family farm and moved to Ventura, Iowa, and then to Henderson, Nev., where he resided with his daughter and son-in-law.   

  He enjoyed playing bingo with his niece, Kathy, a good game of Rummy, live music and concerts, exploring old ghost towns in Nevada, and trips to local Nevada casinos to play Keno and Wheel of Fortune with his son-in-law, Ted.

  He is survived by his daughter, Gloria (Ted) Mendenhall; son, Gary (Sally) Eichmeier; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and many friends and acquaintances.   

  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Virginia, Ida Mae, Helen, Alice and Blanche; and brother, Bob.  

  Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.

 

 

  Graveside services will be held for Robert (Bob) Gene Eichmeier, on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, following his brother George’s funeral at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.  Bob died on Sept. 19, 2010.

Bob was born in Rockford, Iowa, on July 6, 1926.  He farmed in rural Mason City, Iowa, with his brother, George, until moving to Las Vegas, Nev., in 1971.  Bob worked a number of jobs in Las Vegas over the years and was working as a carwash attendant at the time of his death.
