Donald Simpson

Donald L. Simpson, 60, of Long Beach, Calif., formerly of Wesley, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, of complications from a stroke, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach.

Don was born Oct. 24, 1952 in Algona, Iowa, to E. Louis and E. Ruth (Seaberg) Simpson of Wesley.  Don graduated from Corwith Wesley High School  in 1970 and attended Iowa State University.

In November of 1973, Don move to California where he worked for Riverside Steel for 21 years, and then Ancon Marine until 11 months prior to his death. Don loved reading, fishing, hunting and biking and was a huge Green Bay Packer fan.

Don was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his siblings, Dorothy (Dan) Biondi of Sheldahl, Iowa, Linda (Rich) Fox of Mansfield, Texas, Leannah (Dennis) Wailes of Scranton, Iowa, Dale (Joan) Simpson of Poway, Calif., George (Miriam) Simpson of Ventura, Iowa, Janis (Mike) West of Wesley; and many nieces and nephews.

Don’s body was cremated and a memorial service will be held in Wesley later this year for his family and friends.
