Lake man pleads guilty to murder for hire
Sentencing is March 11
A Clear Lake man has pleaded guilty to one count of solicitation to commit murder.
Alan Cannon was charged in March 2012 with two counts of solicitation to commit murder, one count of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of attempted murder. Cannon was charged in November
2011 with third-degree sexual abuse and supplying alcohol to a minor. He was accused of offering money to two men in December 2011 to kill the 16-year-old girl who was the alleged victim in the sexual abuse case.
A Cerro Gordo County jury found Cannon guilty of assault and supplying alcohol to a minor in June and he was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Monday, Cannon submitted a guilty plea to the one charge in Cerro Gordo County District Court on Monday, with the other counts being dismissed.
Sentencing on the solicitation to commit murder charge will be March 11.
