Charlie was born Jan. 18, 1954 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Charles William and Patricia (Gard) Ford.   He graduated from Ventura High School in 1973.  Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served nine years.  After leaving the service with an honorable discharge he worked for Winnebago Industries until he was disabled by a heart condition.

Charlie was an avid fisherman with lots of fishing buddies in the Ventura and Clear Lake area.  His life was complete with his love of both his church and family.  At his church he was very active with the Sunday schools and youth groups.  This brought both meaning to his life and those he worked with.  His love of family was shared with his mother, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins.   Charlie loved living in Ventura and loved the very special neighbors who helped him continually through the last few years.

Charlie is survived by two sisters, Barb Ford, Waterloo, Iowa, and Peggy Ford, Garner; niece, Jessica Guisvig and James Acosta, both of Portland, Ore.; aunts and uncles, Mary Davison, Garner, Mike (Mona) Gard, Valdosta, Ga., Sue (Dick) Devore, Rochelle, Ill., Jim (Pam) Gard, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Marney Gard (Jim) Smith, Colorado; and many cousins.

Charlie was preceded in death by his mother, Pat Ford; and sisters, Ruth Ford Marshall and Cinda Ford.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
