Juanita Monce

Juanita Jean Monce, 87, 205 27th Ave. S., Clear Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.  

     A funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 3, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.  Rev. Patti Aurand of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Mason City will be officiating.  Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.  The family requests any memorials be to Hospice of North Iowa in Memory of Juanita J. Monce.

     Juanita Jean “Nita” was born Jan. 29, 1925 to Arthur and Gladys (Comstock) Michaels in Mason City.  She attended and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1943 and attended Hamilton Business College.

     On Aug. 29, 1943 she married Francis Siesseger and to this union three children were born, Carolyn, Joan and John.  She worked at the Clear Lake Bakery and Andrew’s Prestress until retirement. She then worked at Opportunity Village.

     After her children were grown she moved to Arizona and Oregon where she met and married Homer (Randy) Monce.  When Randy passed away she moved back to this area to be close to family.

     She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Mason City and Eastern Star.  Nita loved reading, traveling, camping, photography and spending time with her family and attending picnics in the summer at John and Judy’s home.

     She is survived by daughters, Carolyn (Dale) Bird, Winona, Minn., and Joan (Jeff) Nesler, Harrisburg, Ore.; son, John (Judy) Siesseger, Clear Lake; six grandchildren, Linda (Andy) Waldo, Heather, Dean, Jenny, Christopher, Shawn and Charles Nesler; five step-grand children, Kim (Randy) Young, Bruce Wilkinson, Angela Jansen, Kim (Vance) Wendel and Jason (Becky) Jansen; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and her extended family at Apple Valley.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Francis Siesseger and Homer Monce; infant brother, Calvin; and brothers George, Arthur, and Melvin (Mike).

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
