Lisa Foley-Luker

 

Lisa Anne Foley-Luker, 48, formerly of Clear Lake, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at her home after a short battle with breast cancer. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 

25, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N 4th St. in Clear Lake. The family of Lisa would like to suggest that memorial contributions be made to the Clear Lake Public Library Foundation in her memory.

Lisa was born in Clinton, Mo., on Feb. 24, 1964. For much of her young life she lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1982 and later attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1986. Lisa married Todd Luker in 1992 and divorced in 2011. Her children from this marriage, Hadley and Henry Luker, were her mainstay throughout her struggle with cancer, along with her best friend, Beth (Fulton) Barker, her former husband, Todd, and her cats, Arlo, Julian, and Tip.

Lisa worked at Opportunity Village for many years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, listening to Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and The Who; watching Craig Ferguson with her son, Henry; watching new movies with her daughter, Hadley; and playing with the family dog, Moonie.

Lisa is survived by her two children, Hadley Luker and Henry Luker; father, Robert Foley and step-mother, Sharon Foley, Austin, Texas; step-father, Jim Dickens, Marion, Iowa; step-brother, Jimmy Dickens, step-sister-in-law, Wendy Dickens, and step-sister, Jenniffer Dickens, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; step-sister, Lyn Clancy; step-brother, Brian Raue; aunt, Dorothy Lange, and aunt, Joyce Evans; and cousins (Missouri).

She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley (Evans) Dickens, and her grandparents.  

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
