Jerome Frampton

Jerome W. Frampton, 80, of Woodbury, Minn., and formerly of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at the Hometown Senior Living in Woodbury.  

A funeral service for Jerome was held on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at the Clear Lake Evangelical Free 

Church, Clear Lake, with Pastor Dan Jordan and Pastor Terry Baxter officiating.  Burial followed in the Clear Lake Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868.

The family suggests memorial contributions be donated to the Evangelical Free Church Mission Team.

Jerome Winfield Frampton, son of Hayes and Mary Jensen Frampton was born Dec. 1, 1931 in Kirkman, Iowa.  Jerome graduated from Kirkman High School in 1946 and furthered his education at the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis that qualified him to work in the state court system.  He was drafted in the army and served over 17 months in Verdun, France during the Korean Conflict, before being honorably discharged as a corporal.

On June 25, 1958, he was united in marriage to Rosella Mae “Sally” Frampton at Merrills Grove Baptist Church in Fiscus, Iowa. Two sons and two daughters were born to this union. They lived in Minneapolis, Minn., for two years, Waverly, Iowa, for 17 years, and Clear Lake for 35 years.  Jerome worked as a court reporter for 32 years in the Iowa District Court.  At work he went by “Jerry.”

Jerome devoted his life to his wife, family, and to his faith in Jesus Christ.  Together Jerome and Sally shared many special vacations in Colorado. Through gardening, church activities, community volunteering, and work in the Iowa court system, he touched the lives of many people. 

Jerome loved being with people, had a great sense of humor, and was active in the community.  Some of his past gardening interests follow: president elect, vice president, treasurer, national director, and life member of TGOA/MGCI (The Gardeners Of America & Men’s Garden Clubs Of America); Member of Central Gardeners of North Iowa, East Valley Garden Club of Mesa (Arizona), Ventura Garden Club of Ventura (Iowa), Federated Garden Clubs of America, Iowa State Horticulture Society; president and secretary of North Iowa Garden Club of Mason City, Iowa; Certified Master Gardener and served frequently as a horticulture judge for fairs and other competitions.

Jerome has always been active in the church; he was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Clear Lake and also the Grace Baptist Church in Waverly.  He served in many roles in the church including the Evangelical Free Church Mission Board.   He also served as a volunteer for Hospice of North Iowa.  Jerome was active in his community working for the Red Cross and was the Master Gardener for Harmony Ranch (a ranch for mentally disabled children) in Clear Lake.  Residents of Clear Lake and Mason City will remember Jerome and his tent at the Saturday morning farmer’s market selling tomatoes, hot chili peppers, and whatever was in season. 

Jerome was interested in genealogy of the Frampton name.  He is a decedent of William Frampton who was the first Frampton to arrive in America and lived in New York and Philadelphia between 1678 and 1686.  William Frampton was a member of William Penn’s first Provincial Council.  William Frampton started the first brewery, with financing from Penn, in Philadelphia along with a bakery.

Greeting Jerome in heaven is his beloved wife Rosella (Sally).  Also, preceded in death were his parents and siblings Lowell, Emerson, and Lotus.   Jerome will be truly missed by his four children, Steven Frampton and his wife, Lisa, of Woodbury; one grandson, Matthias Winfield;  Mark Frampton of Parker, Colo.; one granddaughter and grandson, Carlie Alyn and Austin Winfield; Susan Hjelseth and her husband, Richard, of Mahtomedi, Minn.; one grandson and granddaughter, Mitchael Ryan and Alyssa Rose and Julie Anderson and her husband, Dennis, of Albert City, Iowa; two grandsons and one granddaughter, Gregory Scott, Andrew Ryan and Kylie Rose; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

Memorial Park Cemetery, Crematory and Funeral Home, Mason City, were in charge of arrangements.
