Rosemary, later known as Rosie, was born Jan. 30, 1945 in Forest City, Iowa, the daughter of Maynard and Loretta (Kelly) Nielsen. She graduated from Forest City High in 1963 then attended Hamilton Business College. Rosemary married Stephen Meyers June 9, 1989 in Clear Lake.
Rosemary worked at Clear Lake Bank and Trust for 30 years as a secretary with the insurance agency. She met with many members of the community there and was well known for her friendly smile and warm service.
In her earlier days she loved to dance and was as graceful on the dance floor as she was in life. Most important to her though was her family and friends. Some of her happiest times were spent traveling with Steve. They had a great time on their fishing trips to Canada with good friends and vacationing on the beach in California with their grandchildren. She was instrumental in keeping extended family together by hosting an annual potluck party after the parade on the 4th of July.
Rosemary also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and photography, as noted with all the family pictures surrounding her in her home. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and had fond memories of her time as a Sunday School teacher.
Her grace, beauty and generosity will always be remembered. Her love will always be felt in our hearts. Mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, she will never be forgotten.
Rosemary is survived by her husband, Steve Meyers, Clear Lake; two children, Jacqueline “Jackie” Buchan and her husband, Rick, Albany, Calif. and Brent Shoop, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; two step children, Erik Meyers and his wife, Abbey, Apple Valley, Minn. and Heidi O’Neil, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren, Mitchell and Trevor Buchan, and Anna and Abby Shoop; and step grandchild, Luke O’Neil; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Nielsen; and sisters, Jan Schmidt, and Marilyn McDaid.
