DiMarco takes over Clear Lake cross country program
The Clear Lake Cross Country program has a new head coach this year. Nick DiMarco is now leading the Lion pack. He makes the transition to the high school team after coaching the middle school cross country team for seven years.
DiMarco inherits boys and girls teams with experienced runners from Coaches Lothar Meyer and Jerry Morris.
On the boys side, six runners earned letters last season. The group includes one senior, Alex Blum, along with juniors Antonio DiMarco, Jake Iverson and Justin Jurgens. Sophomores MJ Mixdorf and Alex Enabnit also lettered as freshmen last season.
The girls team will be paced by senior letter winners Sierra Greiman, Amie Adams and Kaitlyn Ouverson, with junior letter winners Trudy Peterson and Kirsten Reineke.
Peterson was a Class 3A State qualifier last season. In her first State appearance, she recorded her best time ever and placed 52nd.
Coach DiMarco said he also expects juniors Logan Anderson and Courtney Anderson, as well as Taylor Hauser to battle for varsity status on the girls team. Ryan Faught also appears ready to help the boys varsity team, he added.
