Ten seniors will add experience to Lion varsity volleyball
The Clear Lake volleyball team is counting on eight senior letter winners and experience gained by several young players last season to add to the Lions’ win total this year.
“With 10 returning seniors, who all played extensively last year, Clear Lake volleyball should be exciting this season,” said Coach Scott Swenson, in his second year at the Lion helm. “There is also a nice group of juniors
ready to contribute, too.”
Last season the Lions, with just one senior on the team, were 3-27 overall and 1-8 in the North Central Conference.
This year the Lion line-up will include senior setter Carly Ouverson, who was a Third Team All-NCC selection last season. Seniors Brianna Haugen and Jenna Peterson are all back at the outside hitting position. Middle hitters are seniors Taylor Julsen and Kaitlyn Pitzen, and defensive specialists are seniors Megan Kopriva and Emily Willms. Kopriva will play libero. Another senior, Jeanette Davis, is out with an ACL injury but is still helping the team, noted the coach.
Swenson said he also expects seniors Ali Petersburg and Hailey Hall, both setters, to see considerable playing time, along with junior middle hitters Bailey Kibsgaard and Ivy Hogg. Juniors Madison Faber, a defensive specialist, outside hitter Ivy Hogg, and setter Jeni Hamlin all gained valuable experience last season, along with sophomore middle hitter Sydney Borrill.
Experience also returns in the coaching staff. Emily - Read More Via e-Edition
