Arraignment set for Lake man facing sex abuse charges
A Clear Lake man arrested and charged with Lascivious Acts with a Child, a Class D felony and Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, a Class C felony, will be arraigned Aug. 20.
On Aug. 5, Clear Lake police arrested 25-year-old Mason City resident David Powell II in a sting operation. Powell showed up at a local motel thinking he was going to be meeting a 13-year-old Clear Lake girl for sex; instead he
was met by police when he entered the motel room.
Powell is alleged to have had sex with the girl on a previous occasion on July 28, 2012.
Powell also faces revocation of probation on a charge of delivery of cocaine. He’s being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a total of $27,000 bond.
