Trial delayed for man accused of soliciting to commit murder of teen

The trial of a Clear Lake man accused of solicitation to commit murder has been delayed until September.

Alan Cannon was charged in March with two counts of solicitation to commit murder, one count of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of attempted murder.  Cannon was charged in November 2011 with third-degree 

sexual abuse and supplying alcohol to a minor, and is accused of offering money to two men in December to kill the 16-year-old girl who was the alleged victim in the sexual abuse case. 

In June, Cannon was found guilty of assault and supplying alcohol to a minor and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, fined $500 and ordered to pay over $2,100 in court costs and attorney fees. 

Cannon’s trial was scheduled to start Aug. 21,  but online court records show that the trial is now set to start on Sept. 25, with a pre-trial conference scheduled for Sept. 11.  

Cannon is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $55,000 bond.
