City inks contract with public works employees
The Clear Lake City Council has approved a new three-year contract with public works department employees.
The Council voted unanimously Monday, July 2, to a wage increase of 1.75 percent each July 1 and a 1.5 percent wage increase each Jan. 1 of the contract, July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2015.
City Administrator Scott Flory noted the agreement also provides for an increase in the employee’s share of the monthly cost for health insurance. The increase will be 7 percent for family and 15 percent for single coverage.
The agreement is similar to one the council approved back in February for the city’s police department and Teamsters Local Union 238.
In other business, Mayor Nelson Crabb requested that the appointment of Gary Hugi, 1304 5th Place N., to the Planning & Zoning Commission. Hugi fills the position held by Paul Bruns, whose term expired Dec. 31. Hugi’s term will expire Dec. 31, 2016.
