Boaters can expect heavy traffic; Ramps repaired
The July 4 holiday annually is the busiest time for boating on Iowa waters and with the holiday landing on Wednesday, boaters can expect heavy traffic to last all week long.
In preparation, the boat ramps at McIntosh Woods State Park and Lynne Lorenzen Park have been receiving
work. The problem occurred when scour holes developed at the end of the ramps from boats powering on to trailers. The Ventura Access ramps will reopen Friday, June 29. Boat ramps at the Ritz, Clear Lake Boats and City Park are all open.
If the water is the busiest place for boats, waiting in line at the ramp is probably the second busiest and patience and ramp courtesy will be at a premium, said Susan Stocker, boating law administrator and education coordinator for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
