Wildcats dominate Lions in NCC softball action
After a week off from action, the Clear Lake girls softball team was back in action Monday night, June 11. The Lions hosted Humboldt (10-5) in a North Central Conference matchup. This week the Lions are at Webster City tonight
(June 13) for another NCC tilt, then will host Mason City Thursday and Eagle Grove Friday.
Humboldt 12, CL 0
Humboldt used a six run sixth inning to propel their team to a 12-0 victory over Clear Lake Monday night.
After five scoreless innings, Humboldt loaded the bases, but was held to just one run in the top of the fifth inning. The run gave them a 1-0 lead.
A lead-off single in the sixth was followed by a double and a pair of errors which scored a run. A hit batsman and four more hits helped the Wildcats score six runs for a 7-0 lead.
Humboldt kept the bats swinging in their final trip to the plate. They rapped five more hits in the top of the seventh which scored five more runs.
Erin O’Tool attempted to light a fire under her team in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs O’Tool smacked a ball to the wall. She tried to stretch her triple into a home run, but was thrown out at the plate. In addition to O’Tool, Hannah- Read More Via e-Edition
