Ventura boys peaking at the right time
The Ventura boys track team is hitting its stride at just the right time, according to Coach Rod Huber.
“We had a good week of meets. There are only two track meets left before Districts and all of the guys are peaking at just the right time,” said Huber. “We are hoping to shave a little more time off of events this week and be prepared for districts.”
The Vikings had a busy week on the track with three meets in one week.
Northwood Meet
Ventura traveled to Northwood on Monday, April 23. The Vikings placed sixth with 23 points.
Joel Toppin led the team with a first place finish in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:29.27. He also placed second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:59.87.
Other place winners were:
•3200 meter Run: Jeff O’Brian, 5th, 11:58.11
•4x100 Relay: Josh Miller, Kevin Boehnke, Jon Haag, Zach Zwiefel, 5th, 51.82
•1600 Medley: Miller, Boehnke, Haag, O’Brien, 6th, 4:23.23
Garner Meet
The Vikings may have finished in the bottom spot for team placement at the Garner-Hayfield meet on Tuesday, April 24, but they did manage to pick up some individual placements and collect 32 points.
Joel Toppin and Jeff O’Brien picked up a second and fourth place finish in the 3200. Toppin was second in 10:40.03 and O’Brien was fourth- Read More Via e-Edition
