Beverly Swan
Beverly Faith Swan, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and best friend, age 85, of St. Louis Park, Minn., went to be with her Lord on April 15, 2012. Services will be held Saturday, May 26, 2 p.m., at Clear Lake Christian Church, 302 Highway 18 W. Gifts may be given in her name to First United Methodist Church of Chicago, 77 W. Washington, Chicago, IL 60602 or Global Partners of the Wesleyan Church.
Beverly was born on Feb. 16, 1927 in Clear Lake to Francis and Edna Latham. She was one of nine children. She married and had a daughter, Cheri Swan Pickslay. For the past 38 years she has lived with her best friend, Lorrie Carlson. Throughout these years, the two friends enjoyed many wonderful trips to Europe. Beverly graduated from Clear Lake High School and attended St. Paul Bible School. She worked as a legal secretary for 23 years both in Chicago and Minneapolis. She was the hub of her large family, keeping track of everyone and organizing reunions. Throughout her life, she always had an infectious sense of humor and could make everyone feel at ease. At a young age, she gave her heart to the Lord and even in her last days, was able to recite verses from the Bible. She totally loved the Lord with all of her heart.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Cheri, and her husband, Kent Pickslay, currently serving as missionaries in Croatia; her grandchildren, Chelsea Pickslay and Spencer and his wife, Megan Pickslay; her sisters, Frances and her husband, Lewis Rutledge, of Grand Rapids, Mich., Helen Latham of Batavia, Ill., Veronica Enabnit of Mesa, Az. and Lucy Peevy of Tulsa; brother, John Latham of Ottumwa, Iowa; 25 nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Lorrie Carlson.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Bowers, Rosemary DeWitt; and a brother, Richard Latham.
