Vavrik leads G-H/V trapshooting team to championship

 The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura trap shooting team took top honors at the Mohawk Invitational held at the Ventura Gun Club on Saturday, April 14.  Eighty-seven area high school trap shooters participated in the event.
    The G-H/V team scored 227 out of 250 for the win.  Mason City Black was second with 223. Mason City Red scored 220 and Denver finished with 219.

    Dylan Vavrik of Garner-Hayfield/Ventura was the boys individual champion, hitting 48 of 50 with a shoot off score of 23.  Nick Formanek, of G-H/V had a 48 and shoot-off score of 19. 
    Mike Asbe, a CLHS senior who is a member of the Mason City team finished with 47.
