Fire destroys South Shore home
A lakeshore home in the area known as Tanglefoot on the south shore of Clear Lake was destroyed by fire late Saturday night.
At approximately 11 p.m. March 3 the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Ventura and Clear Lake Fire
Departments were called to 3744 240th St., Ventura, for a report of a house fire. At the time of the fire the house was being lived in, but was unoccupied and no persons were injured.
The home is owned by Mark Von Feldt, who told authorities he had been out for the evening. When he returned home about 11 p.m., he walked through the garage and into the kitchen of the home. He noticed the home was filled with smoke and went outside to call 911. When he re-entered the home flames were visible.
The home was reported to be a total loss. The property was insured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Ventura and Clear Lake firefighters were on the scene until about 3 a.m.
