Sholly recognized for football success

    Jared Sholly, a member of the University of Pennsylvania’s football team and a former Clear Lake High School prep, was recognized for his success with the team.
    Sholly earned Second Team All-Ivy selection this season. He finished fourth in the league for sacks (6.0, -35 yards) and was

fifth in tackles for loss (14.0, -49 yards).  He also led his team in sacks and tackles for loss.  He was fourth on the team with 45 total tackles for the season.
    Sholly also received the Bednarik Award, which is presented to the most outstanding defensive lineman of the team.  The award is presented in honor of the All-American and Hall of Fame player, Charles (Chuck) Bednarik.
    The Penn Quakers finished the 2011 football season with a record of 5-5 and finished third in the Ivy League.  The team’s 18-game Ivy League winning streak was broken this season by Brown on Oct. 29.
