Lambert earns coaching award
Joe Lambert, son of Joe and Wanda Lambert of Clear Lake, has been named Boys High School Cross Country Assistant Coach of the Year by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.
Lambert has served as a volunteer for the Webster City, Iowa cross country teams for more than a decade.
After serving in the same capacity at Decorah High School under legendary cross country coach Darryl Landis for seven years, Lambert and his family moved to the Webster City area in 2000. He serves as minister at Stratford Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Lambert worked with the Webster City Middle School program for several years in his early days, then helped at the high school level when his son, Ben, became a freshman. All four of Lambert’s children, sons Abe, Sam and Ben, and the late Tia, his daughter, were involved with the WCHS track or cross country programs.
In 2006, Lambert earned his license in massage therapy and routinely brings his table on the road to cross country meets to be able to quickly assess and sometimes prevent injuries.
