CLHS Dance Team to compete in Iowa State Dance State Championship
The Clear Lake High School Dance Team will be participating in the Iowa State Dance State Championship on Thursday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 2, at Wells Fargo Arena and HyVee Hall located in Des
Moines. The team will compete in Class III Jazz on Thursday at 7:25 p.m. with the routine, “Sassy,” choreographed by Roxanna Johnson of Sheffield. On Friday the team will compete in Class IX Pom at 8:42 a.m. with, “Candy Mix,” choreographed by Kayla Koomia of Rock Valley. And finally the team will be defending their state title in Class V Hip-Hop with, “Rock Stars vs. Ballerinas,” choreographed by Michelle Barlas of Mason City.
The team is coached by Liz LeFevre who is assisted by Katy Lubkeman.
There will be over 5,000 participants representing 275 high school dance team and color guards. ISDTA will also be hosting the 6th Annual Iowa College Dance Competition on Friday, Dec. 2. There will be 23 college teams competiting.
Routines will be performed and judged in several categories: pom, jazz, novelty, lights, military, hip hop, lyrical, hoopla, prop, kick, show production, color guard, all-male and coed.
