Clear Lake officers will participate in holiday enforcement

    This Labor Day weekend, Iowa law enforcement will join other sworn officers from across the country in stepping up enforcement efforts and arresting those who elect to drive drunk or impaired. 
    In 2009, Iowa reported 372 fatalities, of which 92 were alcohol related.  In every state of the United States it is illegal to drive with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher.

    The Clear Lake Police Department is stepping up enforcement on Impaired Driving from Aug. 24 through Sept. 6.  During this period, Clear Lake officers will be looking for those who elect to drive drunk or impaired.  According to Police Chief Greg Peterson, officers will be especially vigilant during high risk nighttime hours when impaired drivers are most likely to be on the roads.
