Mildred Burdette

    Mildred R. Burdette, 105, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday July 6, 2011 at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. 
    Funeral Services were held on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake with the Rev. John R. Tilp officiating. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 10:30 a.m. at the Green Acres Cemetery, Scottsdale, Az.  Family

    Mildred was born March 20, 1906, in Wheaton, Ill., the daughter of Eugene and Mary (Bennett) Ryan. She attended school in Wheaton and graduated from Rosary High School in 1923.  After graduation Mildred became a beautician until she married Forrest “Abe” Burdette, May 4, 1935 in Wheaton. They lived in Wheaton until 1950 when they moved to Canton, Mo. where they farmed until 1959. They then moved to Mesa, Az. where she worked as a nursing assistant at Southside District Hospital until she retired. In the summer of 1991 Mildred moved to Clear Lake to be closer to her daughter.
    Mildred enjoyed sewing and visiting with family and friends. She was  known as a great cook and believed that you always have to have deserts.  She was the oldest member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Clear Lake.
    Mildred is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Mark) McNulty, Clear Lake; Greg Burdette, Enumclaw, Wa. and his fiancé, Jenny Denison; five grandchildren, Maureen (Scott) Dockstader, Ames, Iowa; Michael (Lisa) McNulty, Zimmerman, Minn.; Monica (Jeff) Gribben, Mason City, Iowa; Matthew (Theresa) McNulty, Polk City, Iowa and Mitchell (Melissa) McNulty, Ankeny, Iowa; and 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 
    She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
    Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
