Dan Djuren
Danny “Dan” Djuren, 69, of
Clear Lake, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015,
at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient
Unit in Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on
Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at Bethlehem
Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware,
Mason City, with the Rev. Mark
Lavrenz officiating. Interment will
be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Me-
morials may be directed to the Dan
Djuren memorial fund in care of the

Dan was born Nov. 19, 1945,
in Mason City, the son of Elbert
“Mike” and Betty (Martin) Djuren. on tours across the country. He also

he married Diane Tenold in Kensett,
Iowa. Dan attended The University
of Iowa for one year, marching in the
U of I Marching Band. He then con-
tinued his education at Wartburg Col-
lege where he graduated with a Bach-
elors Degree in Music Education in
1970. Dan began his teaching career
in Little Rock, Iowa. He then moved
to Reinbeck, Iowa and taught Jr. and
Sr. High School Instrumental Music
and was an assistant wrestling coach

was held on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear
Lake, with the Rev. John Gossman
officiating. Burial was in Clear Lake
Cemetery, Clear Lake, with military
honors provided by the Clear Lake
V.F.W.

Ed was born in Kimball, Minn.
the son of Charles Edwin and Laura
Inez (Patterson) Callanan.
He graduated from Clear Lake
High School in 1937. Following
high school he drove truck for Clear
Lake Sand and Gravel. He enlisted
in the United States Army in 1942 af-
ter Pearl Harbor. He served with the
Headquarters Troop 91st Reconnais-
sance Squad, which was part of Gen-
eral Patton’s 5th Armored Division.
He served in the battle campaigns in
North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He re-
ceived the Purple Heart due to shrap-
nel wounds received near Casino, Italy
