Bonnie Evenson
Bonnie L. Evenson (Myers), 83,
of North Fond du Lac, Wis., formerly
of Clear Lake, passed away Friday, July
10, at St. Agnes Hospital, in Fond du
Lac.
Bonnie was born May 16, 1932
to Lawrence and Reva (Roderick) My-
ers. She attended Mason City, Iowa
schools. She moved to Fond du Lac in
2006 to be near her daughters. Bonnie
married Donald Amundson on Feb.
12, 1949 and they had four children,
Dennis, Donna, Jay and Jo Dee. After
Don’s death in 1970 Bonnie married
Steve Barlow in 1973. They divorced
in 1985 and she later married Richard
Evenson in 1990.
Bonnie held many jobs over the
years including working at the Clear

Jewel Lovel Kiefer, 87, of Mason
City, Iowa, died Friday, July 24, 2015
at the Good Shepherd Health Center,
Mason City, Iowa
Memorial services for Jewel will
be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug.
1, 2015, at the Ward-Van Slyke Co-
lonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the
Rev. Kent Mechler officiating. Burial
will be in Madison Twp. Cemetery,
Forest City, Iowa. Visitation will be
one hour before the service. Family
suggests memorials to Jewel L. Kiefer
memorial fund.
Jewel was born May 17, 1928 in
Mason City, the daughter of Harry
S. and Mabel L. (Yarges) Bundy. She
graduated from Mason City High
School.
She worked several jobs as an of-
fice manager and accountant in Roch-
ester, Minn. and at McClellan Dept.
Store, in Mason City. She was also a
hostess at several supper clubs includ-
ing Michaels and Howard Johnsons.
Thursday is final day for candidates

Thursday, July 30, is the last day
for candidates to file nomination pa-
pers for the Sept. 8, 2015 Regular
School Elections.
Nomination papers including af-
fidavits of candidacy and nomination
petitions with the required number of
signatures of eligible electors have to
be filed with the appropriate school
board secretary for positions on all lo-
cal school boards, as well as the North
Iowa Area Community College Board.

was most well known as the manager of
the Harbor Inn, in Ventura, after Don
passed away in 1970. Most recently,
right up until becoming ill, she was a
foster grandparent at in the Fond du
Lac school district. be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at
Bonnie loved to bake for family
and friends. She was well known for
her mint brownies, salted nut rolls and
sugar cookies. her wishes, her body was cremated.
Her survivors include: son, Dr.
Dennis Amundson, and wife, Dr.
Stephanie Brodine, of San Diego, Ca-
lif.; daughter, Donna Amundson, of
Fond du Lac; daughter, JoDee Wil-
liams, of Van Dyne, Wis.; her brother,
Gordon Myers, and wife, Sharon, of
Clear Lake; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-
grandchildren; and nieces and neph-
ews.
She is preceded in death by her
parents, Lawrence and Reva Myers;
husbands, Donald Amundson and
Richard Evenson; and son, Jay Amund-
son, and his wife, Linda.
A celebration of life will be held
in Clear Lake on Sept. 26, 2015 (more
information will be provided closer to
the date). Cards and memorials can be
sent to the family at: Jo Dee Williams,
N9551 Van Dyne Rd, Van Dyne, Wis.
54979. Memorials will be used to-
wards a donation in her name to Rob-
erts School where she was known as
“Grandma Bonnie” by many children.
She married Clifford Eugene
Kiefer on Dec. 3, 1946, in Mason
City. They lived in Forest City and
then moved to a farm near Chester,
Iowa, where she was a stay at home
mom and farmer’s wife. She contin-
ued to live on the farm until the farm
was struck by a tornado and they
moved to Kentucky Ridge, Mason
City.
She enjoyed reading, cooking,
visiting, shopping, going out to eat
and attending auctions. She and her
husband loved the many trips to the
Minnesota State Fair and Branson,
Mo. to attend the shows.
She is survived by her three
children, Gary (Dianne) Kiefer, Ot-
tumwa, Iowa, Linda (Jesse) Pate,
Clear Lake, and Doug Kiefer, Tempe,
Az.; five grandchildren, Kristi (Jeff
Reininga) Kiefer, Des Moines, Iowa,
Brad Kiefer, Iowa City, Iowa, Nichole
(Dan) Stabile, Ottumwa, Iowa, Hol-
lie Pate, Clear Lake, and Jeff Pate,
Des Moines; six great-grandchildren,
Tyler Mosher, Madison Reininga,
Kaylee Reininga, Hayden Reininga,
Charlotte Stabile and Evelyn Stabile;
three sister-in-laws, Mildred “Millie”
Kiefer, Mesa, Az., Francis (Robert)
Adams, Forest City, Iowa and Mar-
garet Bundy, Seattle, Wash.; cousins,
Richard, Diana and Vicki and lifelong
friend, Nick Strange, Mason City.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, Harry and Mabel Bundy;
husband, Clifford E. Kiefer; son, Jay
E. Kiefer; and brothers, Harry Jr. and
Rondell “Ron” Bundy.

Edith Alsbury
Edith Lew (Enabnit) Alsbury, 92,
a resident of Mechanicsville Nursing
and Rehab Center, formerly of Mason
City, passed away on Friday, Jan. 23,
2015. A celebration of Edith’s life will

Church, with burial in Mt. Vernon
Township Cemetery, Clear Lake. Per
Edith was born in rural Cerro
Gordo County on a farm south of
Clear Lake on Oct. 30, 1922. Edith
and her two brothers and four sisters
went to rural school through eighth
grade then one by one went to Clear
Lake to stay with their grandparents as
they attended high school. She gradu-
ated from Clear Lake High School
and Mason City Junior College, then
taught school in rural Clear Lake. and Paul Enabnit; and two sisters,
She married Norman Alsbury in
November of 1942. While Norman
served in the WWII she lived Min-
neapolis, Minn., then joined him in
Washington state in 1944 for a short
stay. After the war was over, they

They built their home in 1946, and
she lived there until 2010. Norman
passed away in 2001.
Edith moved to Mt. Vernon in
2010, and lived with her daughter, Ju-
lie. After a fall at home, she moved to
the nursing home where she lived the
last four years.
Edith was always a learner, and
avid book reader. She was able to at-
tend Winona State College to com-
plete her Bachelor degree in English
when she was in her 50’s. For many
years, she served as a highly regarded
assistant in the English Department
at Mason City Junior College (now
North Iowa Area Community Col-
lege).
She was preceded in death by her
parents, Jacob “Art” and Helen (An-
derson) Enabnit; two brothers, Jack
Betty and June Enabnit.
Survivors include two children,
Julie (Michael) Beimer, of Mt. Ver-
non, and Dan (Liz) Alsbury, of Byron,
Minn.; six grandchildren, Thomas
(Irene) Paine-Tsherit, of London,
England, Kathryn (Craig) Riemers-
ma, of Bondurant, Iowa, Lew (Jen)
Paine of Urbana, Iowa, Susan (Barry)
Paine-Keesey of Austin, Texas, Na-
than Alsbury of Shell Lake, Wis.,
and Anne (Jake) Davisson of Cannon
Falls, Minn.; 11 great-grandchildren;
