Wins keep accumulating for CL girls soccer team

Coach Lothar Meyer said his team is just getting better and better heading into May.  The Lions ended April with a pair of shutout wins. This week the Lions play four matches in eight days, which Coach Meyer said will test his teams’ improvement level.
 CL 5, Webster City 0
    The Lions used many weapons to down Webster City 5-0 Monday, April 23.

    Hannah Bartlett scored two goals and had an assist. Ivy Hogg and Logan Anderson each had a goal and an assist, and Madison Faber scored a goal for the team.
    The Lions held a 3-0 halftime lead and kept the Lynx scoreless with strong goal play from keeper Riley Brinkman.  Brinkman had one save in the match.
    “Our forwards and mid-fielders worked together, improving themselves with 27 shots on goal,” said Coach Meyer. 
    He praised the play of sweeper Alicia Miller and Faber, along with Bailey Kibsgaard, Emily Phalen and Emily Willms. Keely Branstad and Liz Roijen also provided good relief for the Lion offense, he said.

CL 10, IF-A 0
    The Lions made relatively quick work of Iowa Fall-Alden Monday night, April 30.  The match ended with a 10-0 score with 25:31 remaining in the second half.
